Student Guide · F.4 & F.5
From now until your end-of-term exam in June, follow this method and you will study with more focus, less stress, and clearer results — building a personal mistake archive that's uniquely yours along the way.
01 — The premise
Many students underperform not because they don't try, but because of three problems:
The two AI assistants in this guide target exactly these three problems. They do not give you answers — they guide you to figure things out yourself, like a private tutor, and they create personalised revision notes for you.
02 — The tools
Each Gem has its specialty. One sits beside you while you do homework; the other helps you process mistakes after marking.
When you get stuck on a homework question, photograph it (along with the relevant textbook page if possible) and upload. The AI uses Socratic questioning to guide you step by step — it will not just hand you the answer. Once you've understood, it auto-generates a revision note for you.
Open Gem AAfter you get a test, quiz, or marked homework back, photograph the wrong answers and upload. The AI runs four automatic steps: diagnose why you got it wrong → guide you Socratically → quiz you with 5 follow-up questions → generate a personalised revision note.
Open Gem B03 — In practice
Knowing when to use which Gem is the key to using them well.
Don't rush to copy an answer; don't skip the question. Open Gem A, photograph the question (and your textbook page, if you have it), and tell the AI which step you're stuck on. It will ask questions and guide you forward.
Photograph every wrong answer on your returned paper and upload to Gem B. It will diagnose the real cause (concept gap? careless? logic error?), guide you to redo it, and give you a revision note tailored to your weakness.
Take all the notes you've saved over the past months and feed them back to Gemini for a personalised exam-prep summary. Details in section 05.
04 — Organise
Every time Gem A or Gem B finishes, it generates a Markdown note. Don't throw it away. These notes accumulate into your personal "mistake library" — the most valuable revision material you'll have before the exam.

File name format: YYYY-MM-DD_topic.md. The date prefix sorts files chronologically; the topic keyword makes future search easy.
05 — Compile
One week before your end-of-term exam, do this: collect all your saved notes and ask Gemini to produce a personalised list of your highest-frequency mistakes.
I'm uploading my mistake-revision notes from the past few months. Please: 1. Identify the 5 most common mistake patterns I make (e.g. careless calculation, conceptual confusion, weak topic knowledge). 2. For each pattern, list 2–3 representative questions. 3. For each pattern, write a "30-second pre-exam reminder" so I don't repeat it. 4. Produce a "3-minute speed-read card": 5–8 of the most important formulas or key points. Format: Markdown with four clear sections. Language: English.
06 — Cadence
Three phases over roughly two months.
Every time you're stuck on homework, your first reaction is to open Gem A, not copy an answer.
Goal: make using Gem A automatic.
The same day a test comes back, run every wrong answer through Gem B and save the notes to Drive.
Goal: a personal mistake archive that's uniquely yours.
Use the method in section 05 to compile your notes into a personalised exam summary.
Goal: a 3-minute pre-exam read that brings everything back.
